Previously, only Android Users in United States can encrypt their calls and texting messages
NOW , Android Users in Egypt can now use the free programs of “ Whisper Systems ” to encrypt calls and messages on mobile phones.
A developer in company called “Moxie Marlinspike”, said: “Until recently, programs like Redphone and TextSecure to encrypt calls and text messages – respectively – are available only in the United States.
The company “Whisper Systems” has worked to provide programs in all countries of the world. With the vital role played by mobile telecommunications in the first two weeks of demonstrations in Egypt, decided to issue an early version of the Egyptians. He wrote in an email before the release of the program “because of the events in Egypt, we have intensified our efforts to integrate international support, and we are about to launch the first international version published by RedPhone and TextSecure in Egypt.”
TextSecure program uses strong encryption to make the text messages stored on the phone is unreadable to anyone who does not have a passcode. It also allows the user to send encrypted text messages to others who have the same program.
The Redphone allowed users to encrypt voice conversations from one party to another.
Although the mobile phone companies in Egypt did not recognize the control of the demonstrators in the events of the first revolution, or delivery of their data to the government, but the official Vodafone said in 2009 that Vodafone was required by law to hand over data group of Egyptian activists in 2008 and who was stripped down to a large poster of former President Hosni Mubarak.
