JEE for engineering admissions to commence from 2013
IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc all have their own format for admissions but now from 2013 there will be one common admission process to all central government-funded engineering institutes. This new proposal named as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) which will change old format of entrance examination. This exam is more focused on 12th Std examination result. JEE is divided in two parts JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main will be having multiple choice questions while the nature of JEE Advanced will be determined by the IITs Joint Admission Board (JAB)
Students will evaluate on their 12th std result + JEE main + JEE Advanced.
IIT
Only top 25% students who are above the cut-off and has highest percentile on basis of 12th Std and JEE main will be screened for a special JEE Advanced. 50-50 % weightage is divided in 12th Std and JEE Main Score. Final merit list will be declared on basis of Advanced result.
For other central government colleges there will be no screening test and there final merit list will be declared on 12th Std (40% weightage) and JEE Main and JEE Advanced (30% weightage each).
