Facebook Fellowship Program for Ph.D Students

Facebook has announced the Fellowship program and is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Facebook Fellowship program. This year Ph.D. students studying in different international universities can also apply in addition to students doing Ph.D. in USA.

Facebook is accepting applications from students who are interested in various topics like Computer Vision, Computer Networks, Computer Security, Computer Architecture, Internet Economics etc.

The Facebook fellowship program is now open to all the Ph.D. students studying any where in the world who are enrolled during the current academic year for subjects like computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering and other related subjects and must be nominated by a faculty member.

Each of the applicant should provide a one or two page research summary which clearly specifies his area of focus, a CV including a list of applicable coursework. The student should also provide a minimum of two letters of recommendation out of which one must be from faculty member.

The benefits of this Facebook Fellowship are given below.

• Tution fees will be paid for the academic year
• #30,000 stipend and $5000 per year for travel / conference attendance
• $2500 for personal computer

The last date for the applications is 15th December,2011. Any student, faculty member or university administrator can submit the application. This is the third time Facebook is announcing this awards and has doubled the number of awards compared to last year.

• Award recipients will be informed by email of their acceptance

Eligibility Criteria for Facebook Fellowship Program

• Full time Ph.D students who are currently involved in on-going research
• Students should be studying computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system architecture or the related subject during their Ph.D
• Students must be enrolled during the academic year during which the fellowship is awarded
• A faculty member should nominate the student

Selection criteria for Facebook Fellowship program

The selection criteria for the fellowship is given below.

• The eligibility of the applicant and the quality of application
• The applicability of the research project or study to Facebook
• Other criteria as decided by Facebook

Checklist for application to Facebook Fellowship program

Here is the checklist for application to the fellowship program.

• One or two page research summary which identifies the area of focus and its applicability to Facebook.
• The CV of the student containing email, phone and mailing address.
• A minimum of 2 recommendation letters out of which one must be from the faculty member
• The name of the faculty member and a short bio data of the faculty member

How to apply for Facebook Fellowship program
